Donovan neal
Donovan Neal is in his fourth year of playing bassoon. Under his assistance and supervision, multiple ensembles have earned first division ratings at multiple solo and ensemble contests. The T.A. Howard and Summit High School Honor Bands are consistent National Winners of the National Wind Band Honors Mark of Excellence competition.
Donovan is currently a member of the Summit High School Wind Symphony. The Wind Symphony performed at the 71st Annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. He can be heard in the U.S premiere of "Preludio Espressiva". The Summit High School Wind Symphony is a consistent UIL "Sweepstakes" winner and an Area Honor Band finalist. In 2017, the wind symphony placed 4th in the area, earning them 2nd runner-up to state. The Summit High School Marching Band is a consistent UIL First Division Winner and area finalist. In 2017 and 2006, the marching band earned alternate to state at the UIL Area Marching Contest. The band also made its first appearance at the Bands of America D/FW Regional Contest in 2017, and were named Grand Champions of the Mansfield Preview of Champions Marching Contest in 2016. Donovan is a consistent "First Division Winner" at many solo and ensemble contests. He has received "Outstanding Soloist" captions for four years in a row. In addition, Donovan is a consistent All-District and All-Region band/orchestra player. In 2017, he advanced to the Area B competition, where he placed 2nd, earning him All-State alternate. His professionalism reaches out to clinicians across the state. He plans to attend the University of North Texas in 2020. |
