Donovan neal
Donovan Neal is currently a sophomore in high school, looking to push out near-daily forecasts every day from now on in addition to improving his skills in meteorology, science, and advanced mathematics.
Donovan's interest was first noticed in 2007/2009, when he was living in West Texas. Ever since, his love of weather and mother nature has not went away since. In 2015, during a severe weather event and watching various tornado and severe thunderstorm videos on YouTube, this is where Donovan decided that he wanted to get a little more serious about this endorsement. During the 2015-2016 school year, Donovan was the 'weatherman' by many of his friends and teachers. Occasionally, he even went to various classes to give presentations and current updates about severe weather and tornadoes. Additionally, he earned his Advanced Storm Spotter and Radar Interpretation SKYWARN certification on March 26, 2016. Since then, Donovan's passion for weather has increased drastically, and was only going to increase further... In early 2017, he created another instagram account named '@tornado_ neal' to reach out to the general public about impending severe weather in the North-Central Texas area. Donovan figured that was not enough to reach out to the public. So to go even further, he opened his first weather blog on July 3, 2017, where updates about severe weather, tropical weather, and other sorts of information will reside. Donovan's goal for the 2017-2018 year is to reach out to the public even more by broadcasting live storm coverage in the North-Central Texas zone on ANY social media platform you can think of (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Additionally, he would like to earn recognition from the NBC5 weather team, as well as recognition from his current high school and Ben Barber Career Tech (Innovative) Academy, where he hopes to have permission and all of the resources to live stream the best severe weather coverage that is solely focused on the social media platforms. Donovan's interest in Texas weather has been with him for just about a decade now. Yes, since the young age of 6. He plans to attend the University of Oklahoma OR Texas A&M in the Fall of 2020. In addition to his meteorology recognition, he is also well accomplished in the field of music. Read more about his music interest here. |
We would also like to acknowledge Jonathan Williams, who is also a part of Apex Weather. Jonathan is a high school student who enjoys meteorology and is looking forward to taking Advanced Environmental Science classes. He has been tracking North Texas storms since 2013, but has loved the weather ever since he was 6 years old.
Something that kick started his love of weather was back on April 3, 2012 tornado outbreak. While it was a scary day, it also dramatically increased his interest in Weather. Ever since, his love for it has taken off.
He also loves sports! Jonathan is an outfielder in baseball for his school, but also is a utility player for his team.
He is the main graphic creator of Apex Weather and the creator of our seven day forecasts.
